Can Google Be Toppled? These Guys Think So!

Does Auto Surfing Work?

One of the enduring internet marketing tactics over the years has been the use of auto-surf sites. These work by you leaving your browser to automatically browse through several sites automatically earning you points which convert to your URL being rotated in the auto-surf program.

I am really not sure if these work! Who has the time to sit and watch their PC screen as countless ads rotate in front of their eyes? My feeling is that most people will open their browser and then leave their screen or open another window to work on something else - all in the vain hope that others are not doing the same so that their site will be seen.

Where can I find independent research that shows how effective auto-surf programs are? I don't want stats from the auto-surf companies themselves - they will obviously have a positive spin! I am looking for a completely independent report.

WTE - South African Traffic Exchange

I had never heard of this manual traffic exchange until stumbling upon it recently. It seems well run despite the uninspiring front page and I received hits on my listed sites within hours of placing my links and surfing for a short while. The owners desperately need the services of a decent graphic designer. The banners are totally uninspiring and the layout of the pages is shocking - however, it seems to work!

They specialise in South African traffic but accept URLS from all over the world.

WTE is currently on a campaign to become the first traffic exchange with 1 million members! The jury is out on whether this will be achieved or not but I feel its worth a shot if it will bring me traffic!

Yuwie - 10 days later - report back

On the 12th of this month I posted a story about Yuwie - the online social network that pays you to do all the things you would do on a site like Facebook. This is the report-back from 10 days later.

Some comments :

1) It is great fun meeting people from all over the world - granted not all will be become your best friend but they are certainly interesting.

2) The more friends you add to your circle, the higher your number of page views and therefore your payout.

3) There is some genuinely interesting writing in the notices and blogs on the site - sure there is some junk but you soon learn whose stuff to read and whose to leave alone!

4) With a little bit of effort (about 1-2 hours a day) it is possible to develop a considerable number of page views over time. At the time of writing I had the following stats :

September Page Views - Your Views: 976 Referral Views: 2,327

This network is growing at an incredible rate. When I signed up I was number 62 099 - the latest figures show the number of sign-ups to be 88 583! That's an increase of almost 26500 in just over 10 days! Such rapid growth is encouraging to the advertisers on Yuwie who will now be paying more to have their ads shown - good news for us as it means higher revenue for Yuwie who share it with us!
